According to Article 35 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), data controllers must conduct a data protection impact assessment (DPIA) when the planned processing of personal data is “likely to result in a high risk to the rights and freedoms of natural persons.”

This requirement begs many questions: How do you know what qualifies as “high risk”? What about “profiling”? What goes into the DPIA?

In this session, you’ll gain perspective from a data protection veteran on conducting DPIAs, including:

  • The risk factors that should be considered
  • When a Data Protection Officer is necessary
  • Whether attorney-client privilege is required
  • How data discovery and classification can address this challenge.

Who should attend: Information security and cyber security, also Information Officers including CIOs, Information Security Directors, Staff Attorneys, or anyone concerned with the European Union GDPR.
